Since paypal is a very risky, un-private way to pay, I'm quite nervous about becoming a subscribing member--although I'd love to. Could you tell me some things like where this board's servers are located, and what security/privacy features you have to protect us? Once we make a payment with paypal, we've also revealed our identities, and potentially our bank accounts too.

First - The board is based in Panama. For privacy/security policy you should review PayPal's policy. We are provided no information from PayPal other than the email address you use with them, which we do not disclose. PayPal is a financial instution and will not just go around flashing your information to whoever you send money to or whoever asks for it. Not to mention that nothing about this board is illegal, there are many posts about this you can review.

paypal has become more secure than the Visa network in many ways. They do not let a merchant have access to a machine that can make a transaction without a card. Paypal acct. are normally jeopardized by the owner of the accts. giving someone else info by way of scam. Not by way of paypal.

It is possible to use paypal anonymously. I always do.

Get a prepaid visa card and use a bogus name/email address.

What are you scared about exactly? The fact that we talk about gear and how to get it or paying by credit card to a web-site that talks about gear? If you make online purchases a lot, you are fine. There is risk in anything you do, this one is NOT a big risk.

Jump in and check it out. You will not regret your decision. This place is growing like crazy. We need good folks to keep it growing in size and popularity.

Guys,

Just because nothing is illegal here doesn't mean LE isn't doing intel. IMHO-Servers in third world countries are less secure than servers in developed countires with due process. In third world coutries the cops and take a payoff from lets say U.S. LE. Next thing you know local LE in that third world country is kicking in the door and just taking the server and accompanying computers handing them over to whoever paid them. Countries with due process at least have to go through the Subpoena process and even then they have to know if the server is encrypted which makes them get another subpoena to get into the system. There is none of that in third world countries.

Paypal is not secure either unless you use a giftcard to pay and Tor to hide your ip. Paypal has in the past, easily given info to LE as well.

I know this board has nothing illegal for sale, but the subject of AAS is still hot on the minds of the Govt(Gotta Protect The Children) The board concept is great, but lets not fool ourselves into thinking we can just use paypal and everything is OK because the server is n Panama. Complacency is what caused ORD. Lets not forget security and keep everyone safe.
