I've just gone over to the boil side for making enanthate. I love the control I have knowing I'm at 212, and being able to watch the stuff disolve. The apparatus in pic 1 is a 40 ml vial zip-tied to a spoon, which has been pounded flat. Somehow the handle stays cool enough to lift and swirl. 2 minutes/swirlx2 then 1 more minute for a total of 5 made the 22mls of 300mg/ml test, which I will use for the remainder of my cycle, to replace the stuff I burnt in the oven. It's in the back. Looks good huh!:)

Johnny, you would LOVE a hotplate/stirrer. Nothing blends your solution quite like a sustained vortex at the right temp. Once you get one you'll wonder how you ever lived without one. Seriously dude, you're way too involved in home brewing not to have one... You can get them on Ebay for way less than what RLS charges.

This is new to me and I have been homebrewing for over a decade.
Why bother cooking it? It dissolves at room temp if done properly. Cooking doesn't kill bacteria either.

If someone can go in to greater detail on this NEW method, I would appreciate it.....I have always brewed the OLD way with BA and GSO and heat and filter.......

whatmans. By hand. Since this thread was started I've moved up to hotplate/mixer with flask.:)

I'm still trying to figure a better way that the whatmans.... I at least use a caulking gun now to keep the pressure going on the syringe...
I'll have to ask Sicky if he has some thoughts on that....

Tell Para I'm glad I listened to him. Also,Rat, I'm a refrigeration engineer, I have a REAL vacum pump. I just need to build an apparatimus!

I use them on a regular basis. They work great, but don't get carried away with the pressure. A constant 5-7psi is perfect, any more and you run the risk of overpowering the filter. A steady drip is good, squirting is not... I cranked the pressure up to 15psi the first time I used one, and it started flowing like a faucet. I looked in the media bottle after I was done, and it was full of small particles... Needless to say, I had to open up another filter and do it again. $20 down the toilet, but a good lesson. I also recommend using a pre-filter...
Oh, and Equi takes forever to filter....

interesting thread....so...am I correct in assuming that most everybody just makes & mixes their own gear these days? I mean, I know it's cheaper to do it that way, but I would also think that you better know what the hell you're doing too, which leaves me out...lol

For instance you can make test E up to 500mg/ml, but you'l have one hell of a lump. Best balance is at 300/ml. The less steps in the process, the better. Temperature control is crucial. Baking in a cheap electric oven is a no-no. If you dont have lab equipment, boil. Cutting any oil with EO makes the burning point of that oil drop IMHO. The less EO the better(thanks Rat)-(except prop). Dont go over 15% BB or 5%BA for any reason.If you can find a good domestic powder source, pay extra. If you cant, make shure they ship from EU and not china. The list goes on......
