I will be honest and say that it wasn't on my 40th bday that I felt any effects of aging. Actually, I was on a good tear till around 43, but I had some health and life issues that effected how I viewed training as a priority so by accident I dropped my training days and noticed I still made good progress. Powerlifting however is a bit of a different animal than pure hypertrophy. So now past my mid 40s I have reduced to 4 days a week and cut volume, but am constantly attempting to build it back up and add weight to the bar.

So, I would say that a little less is better even if progress is slower. A bit less volume, a day less at the gym, less gear but more quality protein , more sleep and a bit more cardio.... these adjustments have allowed me to continue to make progress.

Please share your thoughts,

I have discovered much of the same in regards to doing a little less, for a little less progress. But I feel so much better for it, physically and mentally.
